PRELIMINARY FORESTRY PAGEANT RULES

 

1)      Contestants will compete in the age division they are the day of the pageant, unless a contestant has a birthday and changes age divisions prior to the state pageant in June.  In this case, the contestant will move up to the next age division.

2)      It is mandatory Tiny, Little, Junior, Teen, and Miss Queens represent Montgomery County at the State Georgia Forestry Pageant in Tifton, GA in June 2006.

3)      Tiny, Little, Junior, and Teen contestants are open to all counties. 

4)      Contestants in the Miss age division must reside, work, and/or attend school in Montgomery County on the day of the pageant and must be a legal resident of Georgia.  If working in Montgomery County, contestant must have worked at least three months prior to the local pageant.  (Please submit paycheck stub and letter from employer).  If attending school in Montgomery County, the contestant must have completed one semester and must submit a letter from the school.

5)      Contestants may be sponsored by family, friends, and/or businesses at the local pageant.

6)      All contestants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the local pageant.

7)      The local forestry pageant will be responsible for your (beauty) entry fee to the State Forestry Pageant.  Queens will be responsible for state program book ads, mandatory t-shirts, optionals, etc.

8)      The purpose of the Montgomery County Forestry pageant is to offer educational opportunities to young ladies and to promote the forestry industry in Montgomery County.  You may hold another pageant title and compete in the Montgomery County Forestry Pageant.  However, the winner of the local forestry pageant must promote Montgomery County Forestry Pageant title only at all events.  If you are named a Montgomery County Forestry Pageant Queen, you cannot compete in any pageant that will require you to promote or make appearances for them until you are three months of giving up your local title.  YOU CAN COMPETE IN OTHER PAGEANTS AS LONG AS THE PAGEANT DOES NOT REQUIRE AN APPEARANCE OR PROMOTION.  You must obtain permission from the local forestry pageant director, Kerri Morrison, before competing in another pageant if you are named a Montgomery County Forestry Queen.

9)      All winners must get permission from the local director before promoting the forestry system in any event.  Queens cannot wear the Forestry crown and/or banner to promote other pageants after giving up their title.

10)  Miss Queen will receive scholarship money at the end of her reign provided she has fulfilled all obligations to the local forestry title.  All other queens may receive monetary awards/prizes at the end of their reigns as well. The local director is responsible for all scholarships and/or prizes.  If, for some reason, a new director is chosen before the end of your reign, the director that crowned you will be responsible for all scholarships and/or prizes.  The Georgia Forestry Pageant and Educational Association, Inc, nor the newly elected Director will be responsible for scholarships and/or prizes.

11)  Miss Queens are responsible for making contact with the local director, not other family members.  We feel this is part of your responsibility while wearing the crown.

12)  Contestants must have never been married and/or ever been pregnant.  Queens cannot marry, become pregnant, or be convicted of a crime during her reign.  If so, the title will be revoke.  All prizes including crown, banner, etc. must be returned to the local director.  The first runner –up in the age division will be the new queen.

13)  Queens agree to abide by all the rules and regulations now in affect or announced thereafter.

14)  The pageant will be conducted under the rules set forth by the local director and the contestant agrees that the time, manner, and method of judging the pageant shall be solely within the discretion of the local forestry director.  Judges decisions are final!

15)  No refunds unless the pageant is cancelled.  Entry fees must accompany application.

 

 

 

16)  The number of applications accepted in each age division will be limited and accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

17)  The deadline to enter is February 1, 2006 to be included in program book.  Please include wallet size photo for pageant program book with your application.

18)  If named queen, you must be on time for all appointments.  Appointments include but are not limited to parades, festivals, ribbon-cutting events, etc.  All queens are required to make mandatory appearances to promote the forestry industry.

19)  Contestants must be of good moral character, never convicted or a crime, and shall possess poise, personality, intelligence, and charm.

20)  NO CAMERAS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED AT THE LOCAL PAGEANT.  THIS INCLUDES PHOTO CAMERAS, CAMCORDERS, AND CAMERA PHONES.  PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER,  WILL BE AT THE PAGEANT.  NO CELL PHONES, PAGERS, OR ELECTRONICS ALLOWED AT THE LOCAL PAGEANT. 

21)  Make checks payable to Kerri Morrison c/o Montgomery County Forestry Pageant.  There will be a $40 service charge on all returned checks.  Checks not picked up within thirty (10) days will be turned over to a collection agency at your expense.

22)  If you are crowned a Montgomery County Forestry Queen, you will be a given state application and packet immediately following the local pageant.  The state packets are to be completed and turned in to the local director no later than three weeks after the local pageant.  If you do not return the packet within the specified time, you will not be able to compete at the state level and the first runner-up will be named queen.  Motel reservations (for the state pageant) should be made no later than four weeks after the local pageant.  Call Holiday Inn in Tifton, GA and tell them you are with the Georgia Forestry Pageant to get a special rate. 23)  No food or drinks will be allowed in the auditorium.

24)  If a problem of any kind arises during the pageant, or related events, the contestant is to immediately inform the local director.  Any unruly, unsportsmanlike, and any unbecoming conduct by a contestant and/or any member of her entourage or any disregard for the rules and regulations of this pageant will result in immediate dismissal from further competition without refund.  Depending upon the severity of the action or behavior, it could result in a permanent barrier from future competition of the Miss Georgia Forestry Pageant or any local forestry pageant.  If you should lose your local or state title, you will not be allowed to compete in a local and/or state forestry pageant again!  If a queen loses her title, she must return all prizes including but not limited to crown, banner, trophy, gifts, and scholarships.

25)  Tiny, Little, and Junior Miss contestants will be scored 1 to 10 on personality, beauty, poise, gown, and overall appearance.  Optional categories are prettiest dress, prettiest smile, prettiest hair, most beautiful, and most photogenic.  Optional category scores are not factored into overall score.

26)  Teen and Miss contestants will be scored 50% on a five-minute interview, 25% on a one-minute speech, and 25% on evening gown.  The interview and speech portions of the competition will be held on the day of the pageant, prior to the evening gown competition.

27)  State queens cannot compete in any local pageant until they change age divisions.

28)  If a local queen wins at the state level, she shall be able to keep her local title and any prizes.  She is also entitled to any prizes and/or scholarships that would be awarded to her at the end of her local reign.  She will, however, represent state only.

29)  No soliciting of any kind is allowed at any local forestry pageant.  This means no passing out applications, materials, etc.  This will be strictly enforced!
